Schizophrenia & Psychosis Action Alliance (S&PAA) has a long and distinguished history of serving as a guiding light for those living with schizophrenia. In 2008, a steering committee of consumers, families, and providers across the United States formed to create an organization dedicated to improving the lives of people with schizophrenia and related brain disorders. Schizophrenia and Related Disorders Alliance of America (SARDAA) was incorporated as a not-for-profit organization by founder Linda Stalters, M.S.N., A.P.R.N. (Ret.) who served as CEO for 12 years. In 2021, we rebranded and relaunched as Schizophrenia & Psychosis Action Alliance.
Our organization has been the managing entity for the Schizophrenia Alliance: Psychosis Support and Acceptance (SA), a self-help step program for people living with schizophrenia or a related brain illness founded by Joanne Verbanic in 1985. Since the program’s founding, thousands of people have been supported by more than 170 groups throughout the United States and many other countries. S&PAA is proud to continue providing this vital resource as our signature support program through materials, training, and outreach.
